An Explosion Of Joy

This painting is one of many I have done in a little botanical garden in Carpinteria called Seaside Gardens and it's one of my favourite places to paint. I never tire of the breathtaking beauty of the gardens and the limitless capacity to delight. When we came upon this particular scene on a sunny day in Spring it seemed like flowers were everywhere; a glorious tangle of blooms in magentas, yellows and reds, all vying for attention under the warm California sun as the path, like a calming river, sailed gently through. What a joy to paint!
