Fields In The Afternoon

This is a sister piece to my two previous paintings Fields at Dawn and Fields at Dusk and as you may have guessed by their titles I am absolutely in love with the fields these paintings portray! G and I have been running and walking through these fields every day for a while now and the scenery never ceases to amaze me. The jagged purple mountains rising so majestically above the flower-filled fields and the Pacific Ocean glistening off in the distance, it really is magical. lt was never my intention to create a series of paintings of the effects of light on a particular scene but these fields alter so dramatically and so uniquely from one hour to the next that I felt myself compelled to paint each incarnation as the light moved across the landscape from dawn to afternoon to dusk. What a joy to paint!
