Flowers In The Foothills 2

G and I were driving around the foothills of Carpinteria when we came across this incredible field of flowers. It was so arresting in the bright sunshine, the mountains rising up majestically behind it, the kaleidoscopic colours of the flowers stretched out like a carpet before us, and I knew I just had to paint it. This is the second painting I've done of the Foothills and, unusually for me, I'm currently engaged in painting a third! Just recently I was reading about Damien Hirst's Cherry Blossom series and I felt inspired to paint a little series of my own based on my first Flowers in the Foothills, so who knows how many paintings I might get to (although I'm pretty certain it won't be anywhere close to the 107 paintings Damien did of his beautiful Cherry Blossoms!)
