Flowers In The Foothills 5

This is the fifth installment of my Flowers in the Foothills series. Can't believe I've actually done five of them as I usually only ever do one painting of anything! It's a testament to how captivating this particular field of flowers was when G and I came across it while we were driving around the foothills of Carpinteria one sunny October day. We literally stopped at the sight of the flowers, turned the car around, parked on the verge and spent the next hour taking photographs and marveling at the beauty that was everywhere around us. We returned later with a canvas and I sketched out what would become the first Flowers in the Foothills painting. Fortunately we had taken so many photographs because when we went back the next day all the flowers had been picked and the field was bare! It truly was a moment of destiny when we came across this incomparable field of flowers and I have loved every minute of painting my little series of five.
