In The Garden 3 G

Dusk was falling in the garden when G popped a bottle of champagne and as we sat sipping bubbles in the gold light I was struck by the composition of the elements surrounding him: the four-pronged limbs of the olive tree arresting beneath a cascading canopy of leaves; the little hanging basket in the centre with its exquisite fuschia flowers dancing like ornaments on a Christmas tree; the table strewn with tomatoes like candy spilled from a jar; and the stunning arched doorway with its jewel-like green tiles evoking some distant Moorish land. It truly was mesmerising and what a joy it was to paint!
