Summer Vines

There is a little botanical garden just south of Santa Barbara which has been the inspiration for many of my paintings. It's loveliness is endless and it never ceases to amaze around every bend and pathway. On this particular summer's day the garden was in full bloom and colour seemed to be everywhere. G and I were wandering happily amidst the plants and flowers, hummingbirds and butterflies flitting gaily overhead, when we came across this lovely little pergola. It was so striking in the sunshine, the pink blush of the stone structure framed so beautifully by the stunning red vines, the sky above a clear piercing blue, and I knew I just had to paint it. What a joy!
