Sunset At Thornhill Broome

It was G's birthday the other day and to celebrate we headed down the coast to one of our favourite places, a campsite just north of Malibu where you can pitch your tent on the actual sand! Just wow! We spent the day swimming and sunbathing and watching the seals and dolphins go gliding gently by, it really was bliss. Then later as the shadows lengthened on the sand we popped a bottle of champagne and watched as the sun began to sink into the Pacific Ocean and the sky came alive with the most amazing colours. Luckily I had a canvas in the car so I got it out and as we sat there drinking champagne, the sky putting on a show for us, I sketched what would later become this painting. It was a truly magical experience and what a joy it was to paint!
