The Aloe Trees

This is a sister painting to Desert Oasis and features similar scenes of succulents and pathways beneath the sun-drenched mountain, only this was painted later in the season when everything had burst into bloom. G jokingly calls it Stray Daisies after the lovely orange daisies which strayed into the carpet of little yellow flowers at the bottom right, but for me this painting is all about the magnificent giant aloe trees in the centre. They rise up like two towering pillars to meet the sky of azure blue and exquisite pinkish flowers burst forth from each tip like fireworks exploding in air. They truly are a wonder to behold and what a joy it was to paint them!
