The Cabana

This little cabana stands at the entrance to a lovely botanical garden in Carpinteria called Seaside Gardens. It's a place that features in many of my paintings as it's just so beautiful and so inspiring. I had never painted this view of it before but on this particular day I was so taken by the beauty of the scene; the purple mountains in the background, the giant trees ranged either side, the colourful flowers scattered in pots around the foreground and, at the centre, the little cabana itself sitting so serene and happy in the sunlight. What a joy to paint!
