The California Poppies

This painting is of a little botanical garden in Carpinteria called Seaside Gardens which is one of my favourite places to paint. It never ceases to amaze with its ever-changing beauty and eye-popping vistas around every corner. As usual G and I were wandering contentedly around the gardens when we came across this delightful little scene. Flowers seemed to be everywhere, an irresistible riot of blooms all piled up on top of one another and gaily straining for the sun. What a joy to paint!
