The Christmas Trees

This painting was inspired in part by the two large trees in the background with their wild, whirling branches and stunning leaves cascading down like a garland of flaming jewels to the ground below. G had jokingly coined them my "Crazy Trees" which I have to admit wasn't too far off the mark! But I knew I wanted something more poetic as a title. We had come across this beautiful scene in the gardens in the weeks before Christmas, and as I was in the middle of painting this at Christmas I received notification from Saatchi that I had sold one of my works! It was such a thrill and I knew then that the title should be The Christmas Trees. Hope you like it and what a joy it was to paint!
