The Lotus Pond

The lotus pond sits near the entrance to the gardens and is always a focus of attention, but when the lotuses are in full bloom it's an absolute show-stopper! When I painted this there were so many beautiful blooms on display that it seemed otherworldly, and the blaze of colours in the background provided the perfect foil for the matchless flowers. What a joy to paint!
