The Road To Ojai 2

I enjoyed painting the first Road to Ojai so much that I wanted to paint another one with a bigger canvas so I could fit in more of the magnificent mountains - I'm just mad about those mountains! The forecast for the weekend was for rain, rain, rain, and I knew from my first Road painting that the mountains would be obscured for days to come. It was a sunny afternoon and I was desperate to get started before the rains set in, so G and I grabbed a canvas and headed straight out to the scene. But as we drove the light began to fade and clouds began to send shadows streaking across the countryside around us. We carried on, chasing the banks of fog rolling in from the ocean and got to our location just in time for me to sketch this epic landscape before the weather obscured it completely. What a thrill to chase nature in search of my painting, and an even bigger thrill to paint it!
