The Road To Ojai 3

It was late afternoon and the shadows were long on the ground as G and I headed back out along the road to Ojai. I had already painted this scene twice before but I felt drawn to visit it again. As we drove, the vast landscape familiar from "The Road to Ojai" began to change and alter until suddenly, as we rounded a bend, everything just magically burst into colour! The majestic purple-shadowed mountains and the fields of yellow rapeseed dazzling in the burnished light beneath, the quirky green and gold trees in the centre and the hedgerows cascading with pink and red flowers at our feet. It was sheer sensory overload, like driving through a kaleidoscope of colour, and what a joy it was to paint!
