The Road To Ojai 4

This is another in my series of Road to Ojai paintings which features a lovely stretch of road between the Pacific Ocean and the little artist's town of Ojai in Southern California. Every time G and I drive out there I'm compelled to get out a canvas and begin another painting, but the other day when we headed back out there it was gloomy and I just couldn't seem to find inspiration. So, disappointed, I climbed back into the car, but as we turned to go I glanced over my shoulder when, all of a sudden, framed perfectly in the rear window, was this wondrous scene; the majestic mountains, the dazzling field of yellow flowers, the pink and red hedgerows in the foreground, colour and contrast everywhere! Thrilled, I immediately grabbed my canvas and hopped into the back of the car to try to replicate the glory of the landscape which had been so fortuitously framed for me in the car window. This painting is the gift I was given that day and what an absolute joy it was to paint!
